George R. "Gin" Lavoie, Jr., 76, of Manchester, passed away on January 23, 2012 at St. Theresa's Manor.

He was born in Nashua on October 27, 1935, the son of George R. and Alice (Noonan) Lavoie, Sr., and had been a Manchester resident since 1980. He was a Korean War Air Force Veteran where he served as an Air Policeman. He also was in the Army National Guard from 1952 to 1953. He worked as a metal polisher for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 79 and a life member of the DAV. He belonged to the Fish and Game Club, the Wynona Club, and enjoyed singing karaoke.

Family members include his longtime companion, Mildred Champoux of Manchester; a son, George Lavoie III of Nashua; a daughter, Lisa Lavoie of East Hartford, CT; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

A memorial gathering will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester on Thursday from 11 AM to Noon with a memorial service to follow in the funeral home chapel at Noon.
